Being charged with a crime or even being investigated for criminal activity can be daunting and overwhelming. The anxiety and fear that those that are not regularly involved in the criminal process face can, at times, feel unbearable. I understand this.

I have been practicing law for 20-years and spent the majority of that 20-year career devoted to ensuring that my clients get a just result even when it feels like they are facing insurmountable odds and endless government resources. I have been an attorney since 2000. I have been practicing in Bell County since 2006, both in civilian and military courts. At one time, I even maintained an office in Belton. I will put my experience, outstanding results, and fantastic reviews up against any attorney in Central Texas.

To this day, a portion of my business still comes from Belton, Texas, and Fort Hood. In Belton and Fort Hood, I handle all types of criminal defense matters, from low-level misdemeanors to aggravated felonies, including but not limited to:

Severe Consequences for Belton, Texas DWI Cases

A Belton DWI, DUI, or BWI charge has significant consequences. You may lose your driver's license, experience a substantial increase in car insurance rates, pay hefty fines and court costs, and possibly face jail time.

Do not leave your future to chance. Select a Belton DWI attorney who will fight for you. I will work for a dismissal or reduction of your charge. If that does not work, I will fight tooth and nail at trial. Overall, I have taken over 100 drunk driving cases to trial and achieved amazing results for my clients. Do not let this arrest affect your job or your future. Call me immediately at 512-457-5200 to discuss how I can handle your situation.

If law enforcement has arrested you or someone you know for DUI, DWI, or BWI, you have 15 days from the date of arrest to contact DPS to schedule an Administrative License Review (ALR) Hearing. Failure to do so will lead to the automatic suspension of your Texas driver's license. If you retain me during these 15 days, I will schedule your ALR Hearing for you. If DPS suspends your driver's license for failing to schedule your hearing or because I lose your hearing, I can prepare and file an Occupational License on your behalf.

Call me immediately at 512-457-5200 to discuss ways we can help keep your driver's license and try to dismiss or reduce your Belton DWI charge.

Dealing With Military Charges at Fort Hood

As a proud member of the United States Army, you have dedicated your life to defending your country. If you are facing military criminal charges or even under investigation, you need an attorney that is equally committed to protecting your rights.

In the military, there are both criminal charges and conduct charges. Conduct charges can arise from specific actions committed by a member of the army even though that conduct would not be a crime in the civilian world. Criminal charges can occur when a member of the military commits a criminal act either while on-post or while off-post.

It is possible, although not very common, for a member of the military to commit an act off-post and be prosecuted both by the military and the civilian courts. While a conduct charge may not carry private consequences (such as being labeled a felon or registering as a sex offender), having a conduct charge sustained against you will, nevertheless, have significant ramifications on your career.

The military justice process is different from the civilian state and federal court systems. In the military justice system, whether you retain private counsel or not, in most situations, you will be appointed a lawyer from the Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps. These court-appointed lawyers are licensed attorneys and familiar with the ins and outs of military law. It is often to your benefit, however, to have a civilian attorney retained who understands the inter-workings of the military to ensure that your rights are protected. Having a retained attorney looking out for you will ensure that no one just pushes you through the military justice system without all of the avenues of your defense being explored and exhausted.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for those who have served. I served over nine years in the United States Army Reserve as a Psychological Operations Specialist (37F). I was an enlisted soldier and did time at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and Darmstadt, Germany, along with an eight-month deployment to Bosnia in 1995 and 1996. I was also prepped for deployment to Iraq in February 2003 due to stop-loss before ultimately receiving my Honorable Discharge in April 2003.

If an investigator has questioned you or if an investigator wants to speak with you, you should retain experienced legal counsel immediately. You may or may not be afforded representation from the JAG Corps during the infancy of an investigation. If you have not given a statement, you should not until you have discussed the matter with an attorney. Sometimes admitting to the most innocent fact can be to your detriment.

Immediate action is needed to ensure the best possible defense, even if you do not know if you will be charged and even if you do not think you did anything wrong.
